Stop in to meet the booksellers at The Burrow. We’re happy to offer recommendations, listen to your favorite parts about your favorite books, or even look at pictures of your pets.

Jennifer is a (recent) recovering academic. Although she taught composition and not literature, she’s been an avid reader her whole life. (Her mom can confirm that she regularly stayed up past bedtime, reading under the covers). While Jennifer reads in all genres, her heart belongs to fantasy novels.

Sammy can be a bit shy, but once you get her talking, she warms up quickly! Their favorite genres are graphic novels and spooky books. When not reading, Sammy enjoys drawing, coloring, and playing video games like Minecraft and Overwatch.

  • We are located in Washington, Iowa at 215 S. Iowa Ave, next to Marshall’s Furniture.

  • ‍We accept returns on books that are new, undamaged, and have a receipt only within 7 days of original purchase. Stickers, stationary items (such as journals and pens), and earrings are considered final purchases and ineligible for returns.

    Unfortunately, we can not accept returns on books just because you didn’t vibe with a particular book. We encourage you to share it with a friend or donate it to a Free Little Library.


  • All of our items are hand selected by staff, so if you feel like you have a product (book or book adjacent) that would fit the vibe of the store, reach out to chat. We love carrying local authors, artists, and creators.

  • If you are an author and interested in scheduling a visit at The Bookworm’s Burrow, please reach out! We’d love to chat.

  • Definitely! We can order a variety of books; they just may take a 3-7 days to arrive.

  • At present, we only carry new books. (So, unfortunately, no, we do not buy used books.)
